Interesting new project

So I guy I work with offered to let me bid on a really interesting project.  A local tourist town is getting bids on installing free WiFi in their downtown area.  I'm in a prime position to bid on the project and I have some pretty cool ideas on how we can do it on the cheap.

Monthly recurring revenue, free advertising for my company via a footer on the splash page that every visitor / business owner will see.

I hope it works out, it will be a fun and lucrative project for me!

Double Root Canal Yesterday

Well, I'm still alive.

I had a double root canal yesterday that sprang up unexpectedly.  I so hate my teeth.  I've already spend $1500 on them this month and can't afford to keep doing this....

Oh well, it's almost over I think.  Been working through these issues for some time now.

Thank you to all who deserve it....  The US government is not one on my thanking list, you fuckers

I hate my teeth

What more is there to say. I hate them so much!

Simple linux backup script

So I thought I would share (for those techie folks) the backup script I use for the site.  It also backups up some other sites and mysql tables.

It's by no means a "good" script but it does function for my needs

I put this script into the following directory so it will run daily.

Here is the backup script

#Set Date
today=$(date +%Y%m%d)
#Delete old Backups
find /mnt/backup/sitebackups* -mtime +1 -exec rm {} \;
echo Delete old backups complete
#Backup madhat.com Databases
mysqldump -u root -p"Password" "Database" > /tmp/"Database"$today.sql
echo frv done
mysqldump -u root -p"Password" "Database"> /tmp/"Database"$today.sql
echo madhatt done
mysqldump -u root -p"Password" "Database"> /tmp/"Database"$today.sql
echo madjoom done
mysqldump -u root -p"Password" "Database" > /tmp/"Database"$today.sql
echo tpforum done
mysqldump -u root -p"Password" "Database" > /tmp/"Database"$today.sql
echo tpwp done
echo mysql dump done
sudo tar -cvf /mnt/backup/mysqlbackups/$today.tar /tmp/*.sql
echo mysql tar done
sudo rm /tmp/*.sql
echo mysql tmp delete done
#Compress websites
sudo tar -cf /mnt/backup/sitebackups/backup$today.tar /var/www/*

Yet another new server

So after hosting madhatt.com on a mac mini for several years I moved to a Virtual Ubuntu server running on a Mac mini.

Well that worked so well I decided to go full bore.  Madhatt.com (along with a few other sites) is now hosted on a HP Proliant server.

The site is hosted on 2 72 GB hard drives in RAID 0 (for you non computer people that means that each drive is a mirror of the other, so if one fails your data is not lost)

I also have a 3 hard drive, 36 GB used for daily backups.  Add to that (as a last resort) all the websites are backed up to a USB thumb drive once a week.  Below are the pictures of the server and where it is hosted. (coming soon)

A good Day

Sitting at home with my honey, listening to some music on youtube,  a pretty good Sunday morning.

Time to work on the bike

Tis the season...  Well almost.

Time to get the bike tuned up and ready for the pikes peak trails!

Our favorite of course if Elk Park which is 12 miles downhill.  It's a great ride but you can only do it between June through perhaps September. but when it's open it's a great ride.

The only problem of course it that it's hell on the old bike and because of this there is some well overdue work that I need to get done.

Great weather today

Today is such a nice day considering what it's supposed to be like Monday On another note I had to place my battery yesterday. I went out at lunch then noticed that the truck wouldn't start. Thankfully Sammy jumped my truck and I was able to get a new battery later that day. Kinda odd how it just stopped with no warning. Good thing I wasn't on a road trip.

Hosting on new server

Madhatt.com is now hosted on a new server with some new software.

Here are some quick specs

  • Hosted on a virtual Ubuntu server install (VM Ware) running on a mac mini
  • Securely housed in a server room with controlled access
  • Running Joomla CMS software to give a better looking, more dynamic website

Social Media « Primaries For Palin

Social Media « Primaries For Palin. Hmm... not sure what I think about this.  The Dems trying to get palin in the next election? I don't know if I would like to take the chance.  Palin is a ignoramus and I can't believe that so many people in america are falling for that "I'm just a hockey mom" We don't need a hockey mom in the white house.  we need someone of intelligence.

Holiday thanks

Thank you all for a great holiday season.

Leaving Facebook "Finally"

Today I'm very happy to announce that I'll be leaving facebook tomorrow forever!! I'm so glad.. I can't stand Facebook as a company, they leak your private information knowingly. I don't care for the smug asshole of a CEO they have and I really don't care for their picking and choosing which services to advertise for. Example? www.growassistant.com this is my Medical Marijuana software that I've been selling for a few years. Facebook wouldn't allow me to pay them to advertise even though they'll allow dispensaries to list themselves. I don't need that kinda shit so I'm saying good bye and couldn't be happier!

Great Story....

He grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were alone. He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low, reassuring voice close to my ear. "Just relax." Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. His touch was so experienced, so sure. When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his knowing fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And then, as he cupped my firm, full breasts in his hands, I inhaled sharply. Probing, searching, knowing what he wanted, he brought his hands to my shoulders, slid them down my tingling spine to the top of my panties. Although I knew nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and expectant. This is a man, I thought. A man used to taking charge. A man not used to taking 'no' for an answer. A man who would tell me what he wanted. A man who would look into my soul and say ... "Okay, ma'am," said a voice. "All done." My eyes snapped open and he was standing in front of me, smiling, holding out my purse. "You can board your flight now."

Merry XXXmas from the TSA

While we are all getting ready to do our Xmas travel I found this little cartoon that made me laugh. Thank you TSA, AKA - Smurfs - Thousands Standing Around Ben Franklin had it right hundreds of years ago when he said "Those who would trade in their freedom for their protection deserve neither"
